Role Overview:
As a Digital Matte Paint Artist, you will create detailed digital paintings that enhance visual
effects shots. You will ensure the seamless integration of painted elements with live-action
footage, maintaining continuity and realism. Collaboration with supervisors and team
members is essential to achieve the desired visual aesthetic.
Responsibilities:
- Produce high-quality digital matte paintings that blend with live-action footage and CG environments.
- Follow art direction and reference materials to achieve the desired look.
- Ensure visual consistency and quality across shots, meeting deadlines.
- Evaluate concept art, photographs, and style guides to understand the desired aesthetic.
- Check footage size, shot composition, and lighting for necessary elements.
- Use advanced digital techniques to integrate matte paintings with a focus on textures, lighting, and perspective.
- Visualize sequences by sketching key frames based on script requirements.
- Enhance or extend existing footage, ensuring continuity in perspective and lighting.
- Create concept art for matte painting shots.
- Ensure all elements align with the scene's perspective, scale, and lighting.
- Collaborate with team leads, providing daily updates and incorporating feedback.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in fine arts, Animation, Visual Effects, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Previous experience as a Matte Painter or in visual effects preferred.
- Portfolio showcasing artistic skills and technical proficiency.
- Knowledge of industry-standard workflows and tools related to digital matte painting.
